Artist Spotlight: February

Hello Everyone!

Happy February! For the month of romance I decided to make a little parallel to talk about  a great artist of the Romantic Movement.

This movement was not so much about love but more of a focus on emotions, scenes of nature and medievil times. Today I want to acknowledge one of the great pioneers of Romanticism...Theodore Gericault.

Born: September 26th, 1791 in Rouen, France

Parents: George Nicola Gericault and Louise Caruel

Siblings: None

Spouse: Never Married

Children:  Fathered one son out of wedlock with his aunt.

Content: Portraits of the insane, battle scenes, landscapes, and the human figure.

Style: Neoclassicism and Romanticism

Died: January 26th, 1824 in Paris, France.

Quote: "With the brush we merely tint, while the imagination alone produces colour."

So there you have it, some snippets of the life of Theodore Gericault! Below are sources if you would like to explore this artist in more detail.
