Life As We Know It
đ⨠A LITTLE HOLIDAY MAGIC & A NEW CHAPTER FOR FALL BUT ONCE! â¨đ
You guys have been asking what my plans are for the shop, and I finally have a little update to share! â¤ď¸
The truth is, as much as I love Fall But Once, the way I was operating the shop before simply wasnât sustainable for me.
Being open seven days a week, constantly socializing, managing everything that comes with a storefront, and trying to keep up with it all took a much bigger toll on my physical and mental health than I think most people realized.
I love creating. I love sharing my artwork. I love finding unique treasures and bringing a little whimsy into peopleâs lives. But Iâve also learned that loving something doesnât mean the way youâre doing it is necessarily good for you.
And now, with our baby boy on the way, my priorities are shifting in some pretty wonderful ways. đ
I have a little life depending on me now, and I have to make sure that the family weâre building is healthy, happy, and supported.
I canât continue doing things at the expense of my physical or mental well-being, especially during this pregnancy. Our baby deserves a healthy beginning, and Zach and I deserve the opportunity to enjoy this chapter of our lives without constantly running ourselves into the ground.
This time around, I want to be much more intentional about protecting our little family unit.
That doesnât mean stepping away from the community. It means finding healthier, happier ways to be part of it. â¤ď¸
I want to introduce our son to the community slowly, beginning with the connections weâre nurturing while Iâm pregnant and continuing as he grows.
I want him to experience kindness, creativity, generosity, and the beautiful things that can happen when people genuinely show up for one another.
And truthfully? Zach and I havenât spent months developing some elaborate plan for the shop. đ
Weâre really just trying something new on a whim and seeing where it takes us!
Alongside our new Drummond Island Community & Connection group, weâre experimenting with ways to create spaces that feel positive, intentional, welcoming, and rooted in reciprocity.
Places where people donât just take, but give. Where neighbors support neighbors. Where creativity and community can exist together without everything feeling like another obligation.
I want Fall But Once to be more than a store, just as I want our community group to be more than another Facebook page.
Maybe together, these little experiments can grow into something wonderful. đżâ¨
And that brings me to some exciting holiday news!

â¤ď¸ A LITTLE THOUGHT BEFORE I GOâŚ
I think sometimes we get so caught up in what weâre supposed to be doing that we forget weâre allowed to change our minds about how we do it.
Weâre allowed to slow down.
Weâre allowed to protect our peace.
Weâre allowed to build businesses that support our lives instead of consuming them.
And weâre allowed to redefine success as we grow.
For me, success in this next chapter isnât going to be measured by how many days the shop is open or how busy I can keep myself.
Itâs going to be measured by whether Iâm creating a healthy, happy home for our son, making time for the artwork I love, and contributing something positive to the community around us.
If Zach and I can find a way to do all three, Iâd call that a pretty beautiful success. đ
So hereâs to trying something different, keeping our family at the center of it all, and seeing what kind of magic a little creativity, kindness, and reciprocity can bring!

đ⨠Whoâs ready to kick off the holiday season with us and make a little community magic?! đâ¤ď¸
